Iran Film Festival in India hosts ‘Salaam Mumbai’

Joint Iran-India flick ‘Salaam Mumbai’ directed by Qorban Mohammadpour has screened at a film festival in India.

The film was screened alongside two other movies from Iran in the three-day event, which took place in the Indian city of Nagpur from March 30-April 1.

‘Salaam Mumbai’ narrates the love story of a well-off Indian girl meeting an Iranian medicine student in Mumbai. As the story unfolds they both run into some complications along the way.

Indian actress Dia Mirza, who stars in the movie, has been a popular figure in India Cinema.

Other cast members of the movie include Indian movie star Mohammad-Reza Golzar, Dalip Tahil, Simran Mishrikoti and Shaili Mahmoudi.

The other two films from Iran at the festival were ‘Bench Cinema’ directed by Mohammad Rahmanian as well as ‘The Human Comedy’ directed by Mohammad-Hadi Karimi.

The Iranian Film Festival in India also held a panel discussion on ‘Understanding Iranian Cinema and Its Development’.

The festival was organized in association with Cine-Montage and Chitnavis Centre, and has been conceptualized by the Cultural House of the Republic of Iran in India and the Federation of Film Societies of India.
